What we’re about

This is a meetup group for longboarders (and people wanting to learn to longboard) of all skill levels, riding styles, ages, and lifestyles. The group does cruising (places like Greenlake or Alki), distance (Burke Gilman trail, Centennial trail and others) and downhill (all different speeds and level of difficulty and areas).

I've been longboarding for about 7 years now. I started out primarily doing distance pump and push. In 2015 I started doing downhill and took lessons from Robin McQuirk, Cole Kurtz, Rain Daley and Joe Loem. These lessons allowed me to participate in the Maryhill longboard free ride and race events in 2016. They also got me started doing technical runs with pre-drifts and slides (I have a lot more to learn, but having fun). For 2017 I am planning to get some lessons with Nate Braks and Robin McQuirk. Nate manages Boardworks Tech Shop in Bellingham and plans to offer free lessons for the 2017 season. Robin is the owner of Eastside Longboards and operates out of Portland, OR.

The purpose of this group is to bring together longboarders of all skill levels and provide a safe and welcoming opportunity for sharing, learning, and above all riding with friends!

If you want to learn to slide, but don't have a board, I might be able to loan you one. I also have other style of boards too. I'd like to see us do lunch hour rides, games/competitions, and advocacy for longboarding in the Seattle area.

This group is inclusive of people of all skill levels and walks of life.
