On February 4, representatives from Sierra Avalanche Center, a Lake Tahoe Region non-profit  dedicated to providing a free daily avalanche advisory for the central Sierra Nevada, will lead an extremely useful presentation about how to properly read and interpret the avalanche report. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss technical and situational issues that arise in the field to create a good platform for safe decision making in the backcountry. There will be a HUGE raffle at this event and everybody is sure to walk away with something. All raffle proceeds and a portion of sales from this evening will benefit Sierra Avalanche Center.

Tahoe Mountain Sports (TMS) will offer special discounts on products in the store this night only! The evening will begin with an hour-long reception at Tahoe Mountain Sports, offering a great chance to mingle with other backcountry travelers and members of SAC, as well as score unusual deals on backcountry gear. Attendees will then walk across the street to the North Tahoe Event Center for a formal presentation with Sierra Avalanche Center. Following the educational seminar, a MEGA raffle with proceeds benefitting SAC will give participants the chance to donate to this valuable and life-saving non-profit and win top-of-the-line backcountry safety equipment.

Thanks TMS and SAC for the presentation - helped clarify the avy reports, as well as visually showing how the reports apply to being out there on snow. Great raffle prizes as well - nicely done!

Awesome! S.A.C. gave a great presentation and all attendees walked away with something great - either new avy safety knowledge or new gear, or both!

As a reminder, the formal presentation will not begin until 6 p.m. and will be across the street from Tahoe Mountain Sports, at the North Tahoe Event Center. We'll be at TMS from 5 to 6, mingling and lowering prices on snow safety gear.

Good info to understand, and definitely part of the "know before ya go" protocol. Great to have TMS and SAC come together for this ...
