Overview
Land Ops will once again be conducting off road exploration combined with navigation and radio communication games. The driving is NOT considered extreme. However, we are conducting an extreme night operation that will require a special briefing and precautions in order to execute the operation safely and successfully. You do not have to have a radio to participate. Participants who simply want to run with a team as a spotter or navigator is just fine.
During this operation participants will form two primary adventure teams. Some of the operations will call for both teams to work together to accomplish a larger mission. Other operations will have the two teams competing for prizes. Each team will consist of one or more of the following strengths;
Most new members learn to navigate quickly using a GPS device. We will make sure you know how to operator your GPS and are on the same datum as the rest of the team.
Spotters assist in finding geocache containers once you have arrived at the target location. They also help to maintain visual contact between multiple teams during exercises.
Four wheel drive IS NOT REQUIRED, but highly recommended. Trails are expected to be easy to moderate.
Extreme Night Ops

During this event we will be conducting an exercise called Extreme Night Ops. The word extreme does NOT refer to the trail conditions, but rather to the psychological and emotion aspects of the op itself as well as the obvious challenge of completing the exercise at night. The aspect of NIGHT will bring your experience of exploring the unknown to an entirely different level. The exercise is considered to be more "spooky" than anything else. Members have been known to abort and return to base after only a few miles. To give new members confidence to conduct this exercise you will be joined to form capable teams and Land Ops will be in an over-watch position during the operation. The security of the team and Land Ops in over-watch should give you the confidence to do something very few people would ever do on their own, navigate through remote and unfamiliar territory at night.

Get out there! Run with Land Ops.
I will most certainly want to visit your camp. The food that you brought last time was so unbearably tasty. I think it is a scientific fact goat cheese has absolutely no cholesterol when consumed in the desert.
I do not own an off-road vehicle (I have a Tiburon) so what are my options?
Hey Andy, a lot of vehicles operate more effectively with two people in the vehicles. You can always ride along with one of us. I know I need someone to as a passenger in my Truck to help navigate and use the radio. Let me know. We are glad to have you on board.
Good option. A driver with a navigator is the best arrangement.
Sounds good to me. Keep in touch as the date gets closer so we can solidify a plan.
I'm debating going as a navigator as this is my first trip with the group, just to get the hang of it. What do you guys think & does anyone need a second person?
Looks like the group of people who are going is getting bigger. This will be my first trip but I am planing on going out early, either on Thursday or early Friday morning. I want to know if there are any other single people going who would like to bunk up or share supplies. I have a 8 person tent that is over kill for me. I may also buy a grill and I'll be getting a port a poty as well. I'll be taking out my ford ranger.
If anyone wants to work together so that three people don't have to bring out three of everything, feel free to look me up on Facebook.com/mikelturneronline or call me 951.588.3040
