23 vehicles attended this years Feb trip.

Trip Overview;

For many this will be a first time adventure into the complete unknown. Rarely explored deep inland desert regions are challenging and dangerous on your own, but when you travel with Land Ops you have the added safety and security of a capable support team. Camping out is what most members do, but feel free to make it a day trip. Activities are planned through Sunday afternoon.

The Games (a.k.a. ops, operations, missions and exercises);

We will be playing at least two, possibly three navigational games involving off road exploring, geocaching, communication and teamwork. These games will take you on an exploration and adventure through remote regions of the Mojave Desert. You will be tasked to find hidden tactical instruction boxes (a.k.a. geocaches) that will progress you on an off road journey with mission-like objectives and intensity.

LAND OPS/SUREFIRE
JOINT TACTICAL NIGHT OPERATIONS

WATCH VIDEO TOPOGRAPHY OVERVIEW HERE (http://youtu.be/qZ4NFtwlNpc)

On Saturday evening we will be conducting an extreme night op sponsored by Surefire (http://surefire.com) that will cast you into a sensory deprivation adventure where you must rely on teamwork and technology to make it out. Multiple teams on opposite sides of the AO (area of operation) will work together to navigate, communicate and complete the mission objective. This will all happen in black-out conditions and in unfamiliar terrain. Many members consider the night ops we conduct as the highlight of the trip. It is intense, challenging, and fun!

Surefire (http://surefire.com) will is donating several M3LT Combat Lights (http://www.surefire.com/m3lt-combatlight.html) (check out the product link (http://www.surefire.com/m3lt-combatlight.html)) for members to use during the op. Be sure to get your raffle tickets. These powerful mil-spec lights put off 800 lumens and retail for $395 a piece. Surefire is awarding several M3LT combat lights to Land Ops members who hold the lucky raffle ticket. Presale of raffle tickets will go on sale (online) this weekend and again during the event.

HAM RADIO WORKSHOP (Sunday Morning Breakfast)
Join us on Sunday morning for a continental breakfast and a workshop (panel of several Ham operators). We'll be explaining Ham radio basics, protocols and give you tips on getting your own radio license.

OVERWATCH

Overwatch teams consisting of Land Ops organizers will provide an added element of safety and security so that new members can participate in this extreme exercise without the high level of anxiety and stress normally associated with night ops. Just be challenged and have fun, we've got your back.

The A.O. (Area of Operation) : Western end of Galway Dry Lake just east of Twenty Nine Palms Marine Base.

Explorers' Feast
Pot luck style get together between the ops. If you don't cook, but only like to eat, that's okay too. Enjoy the time meeting and eating with fellow Land Ops members and organizers.

By popular request, organizer Edith Doering will be preparing a pot of her special, home made recipe of chili. For those who have tasted they can testify that the entire trip is worth coming out just for this. First come first serve. It doesn't last very long when she prepares it for the at college students. You are advised to be on time (This ad is approved by Edith Doering).
