Chinese- English Translation Workshop

The first workshop was a great success and now we will run this as a regular event.

To cover the cost of the room there will now be an entry fee of $5.

In partnership with Language Connection, The Marco Polo Project will be running Translation Workshops for interested learners of Chinese and English. Participants will be divided into groups of two or three and will be guided to collaboratively translate contemporary Chinese writing into English. Articles will cover diverse topics such as food, politics, education, poverty, identity, cultural conflict, just to name a few.

The Workshops will be delivered by Mr Julien Leyre, CEO of The Marco Polo Project (a non-profit organisation that aims to be a reliable online source of information on China). A writer, language educator and speaker of eight languages including Chinese and English, Julien is passionate about languages and well-versed in the art of translation. He will share with you his insights, strategies and approaches to Chinese-English translation. Julien is also an engaging speaker so be prepared to learn lots while having fun!
