Hugh Heward Canoe Challenge

  • Apr 26, 2014 · 9:00 AM

Google around for the real info but this SATURDAY is a big annual Canoe Day for Lansing. It commemorates a day in 1780 when HH escaped from Indians by paddling 53 miles thru Lansing area. About 100 paddlers are out on the Grand on this day each year to celebrate. (Really, it's just to celebrate spring.) There's a picnic afterward. Donation. There are 3 distances you can paddle on the Grand. 53 miles from Dimondale>Portland. 26 miles from Lansing to Portland. 13 miles from Charlotte Hwy Bridge to Portland.

Hi Jeff, I'm wondering why there's no location listed?
