December Laravel Meetup

In this meetup:

1) Michaël will introduce us to the wonderful world of the Eloquent ORM, which makes it such a breeze to work with databases in Laravel. It will be the right moment for beginners to learn the basics of this essential part of the framework, and for others to discover more advanced usages.

2) We will also discuss the novelties of the upcoming Laravel 4.1!

3) Finally, people wanting to discuss Laravel projects they're currently working on - or problems they're struggling with - will be invited to show their code :)

Of course, we won't leave each other without going for a drink. Join us!

Thank you all for all the nice feedback :) And thank you for having been such a great audience, even spotting all my stupid coding mistakes in just a few seconds (note to myself: never forget return instructions when setting Eloquent relations).

Laravel 4.1 has been released now, introducing, among other awesome stuff, two new types of Eloquent relationships as well as a whereHas method to allow more complex querying of relations. Everything is in the docs :)

A big applause for the presentation, no need to be stressed because you rock at programming and you could answer really difficult questions that had nothing to do with the ORM!!!

And also a big thank to Ben for the beer and chips, that was very awesome!

*secretly hopes that the meetup will no be on Tuesday*

By « fancy Laravel topic », do you think of talking about a particular part of the framework? Or would it rather be about presenting a more global use of Laravel (such as a small example application, hence involving the use of different aspects of the framework)?

Issue solved - meetup description updated :)

      December 4, 2013

The talk looks really interesting! Oh, wait… :)

As a beginner, Is it ok to just come and listen to the Eloquent tutorial? :)

    December 4, 2013

    • Michaël

I will try to cover basic stuff as well as more advanced features I am aware of, in order to try to make the talk interesting for people with different levels of knowledge of the framework. But everybody should of course feel free

Oops, apparently you can’t make empty lines in comments on Meetup… But everybody should of course feel free to ask if something is not clear or if he has any particular question.
