Cherry Canyon is a dry canyon located in the Virgin River Gorge north of Vegas.
Note: We do have to cross the Virgin River at the start. You may want to bring a water shoes and/or extra socks to wear when crossing. These can be stashed on the other side of the river and picked up when we exit. I'll check the flow rate in the days prior to the event - if it rains hard and the river is high, we will need to reschedule for safety reasons (unlikely, but possible).
We have a 2 hr drive up and a 2 hr drive back, plus 5 to 7 hrs in the canyon, so anticipate this taking a full day. Pack a full lunch and bring plenty of water.
Rappels: 8 to 10
Max Rap Length: approx 80 feet
Elevation Gain: approx 1000 feet
The purpose of the Las Vegas Canyoneering Meetup Group (LVCMG) is to help bring together individuals that have an interest in canyoneering.
The LVCMG will host events such as canyoneering trips, canyon practice sessions and social gatherings. This Meetup page will also provide information regarding canyoneering safety, technique, beta, courses etc.
The LVCMG is not a guide service. Its organizers are not professionals. Rather, they are individuals with a passion for canyoneering who are interested in helping others learn more about this sport.
