The Publishing Industry... What is it and how do I break into it? (Part One)

So you have the desire to write a book and get it published. But, what does that really mean? Agents, Editors, Publishers, Reviewers, Book Doctors, Social Marketing, Retailers, Acquisitions, Contracts, Literary Attorneys, Fans, Self-Publishing, Traditional Publishing, Print On Demand, eBooks, Foreign Language, and the list goes on. What does it mean to "write for profit" and what are the pitfalls you should watch out for? Join award-winning author Maxwell Alexander Drake as he gives you some insights into the real world that is the Publishing Industry. Warning: this class is not for the weak of spirit.

The only downside to this class was that the discussion got focused on agents, traditional publishers, and self-publishing, so we didn't cover some of the other topics on the handout (literary lawyers, the contract, etc). But what we did cover is what people have the most questions about, and I have the handout to further research topics I didn't know about, such as the function of acquisition editors. There is still the 2nd part to this class topic, too.

Its on both...MAD usually does two classes of the same subject. One on monday, one on sunday prior. If you signed up for sunday, then you are good. There are usually seats available even with a full class.
