Developing a Social Media Plan for Your Tech Startup

Just having a presence on a social site isn't a strategy. It is also not something you can simply "turn-on" and expect to see immediate results. Before you try to use a social platform to stir up publicity for your soon to be instant success, think about what you hope to achieve. Learn to jump in and play by the rules, but do so strategically.

Join us (NO CHARGE) in this workshop where you will learn how to set up a social media strategy for your startup that will include: defining your audience, using various social media sites and tools, creating engaging content and setting and measuring your social media goals.

Presenter Brian Wasson (@BWasson) is an educational technology enthusiast who has been helping educators, adults, and students integrate technology into their school and professional work lives for the past 18 years. As an advocate for the careful and thoughtful use of technology, he has helped hundreds of educators explore Web 2.0 technologies and social media. You will find him online in many social sites discussing everything from higher education topics of the day, to technology use in health care, to effective social media use. He strives to help the world learn to use technology to: Create, Contribute, Connect, and Communicate. http://about.me/bwasson

Hey Brian: Thanks for your note. I expect to spend a ton of time with family this summer as I start to piece together the potential start-up plan. When I'm ready to pull back the curtains you can bet we'll leverage your social media tips. -jp
