The classic operas at the ROH are the most expensive, with average prices in the amphitheatre well over £50.

With side slip seats, you are sat high and nearer the stage.

These seats are subsidised to allow access to all and thus at under £20 they offer incredible value.

From The Guardian on the Opera House side slip experience: "I pick up on the hidden advantages of this high spot where, if I stood up and stretched, I could almost touch the ceiling. From up here, the epic scale of the building is revealed in all its multi-tiered, maroon-and-gold glory…. "

With a restricted view of the stage, these seats still offer all the atmosphere of the evening and reputedly the best acoustics.

http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/c/6/4/1/600_442970753.jpeg Tchaikovsky’s best-loved opera, Eugene Onegin, is based on Alexander Pushkin’s verse novel of the same name. It provided Tchaikovsky with an opportunity to present everyday and authentic experiences on the stage, in contrast to the epic narratives that characterized much European opera of the time.

After initial consternation that Tchaikovsky should set to music this pinnacle of Russian literature, Eugene Onegin quickly became a firm favourite with Russian audiences. Within a decade of its 1879 premiere it had been performed over one hundred times in St Petersburg. It is now one of the most performed and loved of all operas in the classical repertoire.
