Hello Tea Aficionados! This is not a true afternoon tea event, but one worthy of your consideration. Dina Tuck of Ku Day Ta, will fill the hour with tea, tea and more tea! She will actually let us taste 5 Oolong teas and pick our three favorite. We will get a larger taste of these three and nibble some treats especially chosen to pair with oolong tea.
The Tea Lounge is located in the Great Mall. Come in the doors directly opposite the entrance to the movie theater and the lounge will be on your left. Dress is casual.
Oolong Tea is a true tea (from the camilia sinesis plant) processed somewhere between that of a black tea and a green tea (partially oxidized). The liquor of an oolong can range from dark, like a black tea to light, like a green tea. This class of tea provides some of the most intriquing flavors, often not appearing until the second, third or fourth infusion. It is widely held that the best oolongs come from Taiwan. Oolongs should be 'steeped' or infused for just 1 1/2 to 2 minutes on the first infusion. Each subsequent infusion should be 30 seconds longer than the previous one. Water temperature should be between 185 and 190 degrees for the more black like oolongs and 175 to 185 degrees for the more green like oolongs.
