I am a landscape designer (and "master gardener" volunteer) focused on water-wise and sustainable landscape and irrigation design. I'm an overeducated single mother of two young children. I grew up in this area, but then moved around quite a bit.
The latest five years back in North Texas have been a bit dry from the friend perspective, and I'm hoping to meet like-minded women.
This question scares me, since I'm no fan of dogma and labels, but yes, I believe this describes me if it describes the antithesis of "conservative" and "Republican" and "greed is good". I am with Warren Buffet. The top 1% SHOULD pay higher taxes (and I believed this when I made a lot more money, too, as well as when my parents had me in private prep school with kids of the world's gazillionaires). After all, those riches are built on the labor and *gross undercompensation* (real wages down 70%?? in 20 years) of thousands. The rich have gotten where they are by a lock-hold on the social and insitutional structures that rationalize their systematic plundering of the profits built on the sweat of less wily folk. No one is so much brighter or more useful that they "deserve" several thousand times what the lowest paid workers earn. Their children certainly do not "deserve" better lives than the children of others who work for much less. Satisfied?
This is just what I needed to come out of the closet as a non-Republican. So challenging in North Texas! I look forward to meeting you all!
