The life and works of Garet Garrett

Usual monthly meet-up in the Rose and Crown, get the right one there are two in Southwalk!

This is an informal drinks event to discuss Libertarian theories, recent news and events in general, the state of libertarianism in the various parties and in the culture.

To get us started Michael Rudd, a regular at the Rose and Crown, will introduce us to the life and works of Garet Garrett. Sharing his own thoughts and with readings from Garrett's books he will speak on four themes 1. Biographical 2. Fictional 3. Political 4. Historical.

We are upstairs in the function room. Stairs are behind the bar on the right. Ask the landlady where we are if you can't find us. Follow @LibertarianHome on twitter and hashtag #libhome for updates.

Is anyone interested in this event at the Adam Smith Institute on Thursday? It looks to be a thought-provoking debate...

The speaker did well not to be thrown by my puzzling question about one of an entirely different author's works. John T Flynn's 'The Roosvelt Myth' is a fine book but not by Garet Garrett, as some one helpfully reminded me. All very interesting however and I shall now read more of GG's stuff.

I'm visiting my daughter in Edinburgh. I'm sorry to miss it. I hope to come next time.

It doesn't look like I'll be able to make it until 8 at the earliest. Will people still be there to tell me what I've missed?

The talk starts at 8ish and will be videoed (if I can find the charger....)

Sound chap for a minstater. Read a few of his books & listened to a podcast reading of his novel 'The Driver' - very good.
