On Monday, June 10th we will be showing the classic film, The Magnificent Seven from 1960. This is the westernized, western remake of Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece, The Seven Samurai of 1954. The film stars Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter, Horst Bucholz and Eli Wallach.

A poor Mexican farming village looks to hire gunmen to protect them from bandits that always steal most of their crops at harvest time. They're impressed with Chris (Yul Brynner) and he goes about recruiting six other hired guns. Eli Wallach portrays Calvera, the leader of the Mexican bandits that heavily outnumber the seven hired guns.

This is a classic film icon and the unforgettable music score went on to become the Marlboro Man cigarette theme of the 60'S.

The movie will begin at 7:30 PM. The Central Bar and Grill is generously giving us this space from 6:00 PM until approximately 10:00 PM, so please, do your best to support them by having Dinner, an Appetizer, a Drink or any combination of the 3. Their food is actually Quite Good and Really Inexpensive. Their 2 specialty dishes are Pork Chops and Salmon. I particularly like their Grilled Chicken Sandwich. You will be hard pressed to find a better Dinner and Movie deal anywhere!!

This night will also be shared with the Toronto Classic Film Group and the Thumbs Up Theater Group. If you happen to be in one of these other groups please RSVP just One Time.

Everyone is responsible for their own bill.

Directions - Located one block west of Bathurst and Bloor. From your location go to www.mapquest.ca and click "Get Directions." The destination address is 603 Markham Street

Transit - Take the Bloor/Danforth Subway Line to Bathurst Station. Walk one block west along Bloor to Markham St. and you're there. For further TTC info call 416-393-INFO (4636) and dial O to speak with a live person.

Parking - There's a parking lot on Markham Street, just north of Bloor. I believe it's a flat rate of only $4 after 6PM. There's street (meter) parking on Bloor St., and if you're lucky you'll get a spot right in Mirvish Village (Markham St. between Bloor and Lennox). If you're parking on the street be sure to read the signs carefully to avoid a fine.
