Abstract
We take you through our eventful (and longer than expected) journey to actually virtualize the Web Platform of Friendscout24. Enough theoretical knowledge assumed, we started an endeavor that took us through Garbage Collector Tuning, finding Concurrency problems and CPU hogs, getting trouble with Over-Provisioning and other odds and ends. The story will be rounded off by showing our methods of measurements and anecdotal evidence of what might also be waiting for you in your virtualization project...

After working as employee in several e-commerce companies (zooplus AG and HolidayInsider, now HRS holidays) Martin Stolz is now consulting companies in Architecture, Team organisation and Software Development. He also works on a SaaS Platform for search-based applications like marketplaces, shops or online directories that supports modern architectures.
