Every month Linuxing in London organises exciting talks from industry experts and skilled practitioners.

In July we look at Apple’s new language, Swift on Linux and have a real expert explaining the differences between Centos 7 and Centos 6 with plenty of Sys Admin tricks!

"Bio's:

Ian Partridge is a senior developer at Swift@IBM, working to bring Swift to the cloud on Linux. With a background in runtime technologies including Java garbage collection, performance and monitoring he is now working in open source on server-side Swift. Since learning Swift he has contributed to open source Foundation and libdispatch, and is also a developer of Kitura, a Swift HTTP server and web framework. He is an experienced speaker who most recently presented at Swift London about the future of Swift on Linux.

Alina Swietochowska is a Principal Technologist (UNIX/Linux) at QA

She has over 30 years of UNIX and Linux experience as a user, administrator, consultant, course author and a trainer. Her background is technical: initially working as a metallurgist, then an electronics engineer within the telecommunication industry (GEC Reliance, Wellingborough), before becoming a UNIX instructor for Unisys.

At QA as Principal Technologist she is responsible for all aspects of UNIX and Linux technology research, course development, authoring and course management (including accreditation and mentoring of trainers and pre- and post-sales customer support). A significant part of her role is support given to marketing and sales teams.

She has carried out a number of consultancy projects for customers, initially mainframe to UNIX skills transfer programs and migrating systems from UNIX and MS to Linux. She has played an active role in Linux User Groups.

Her main non-IT qualification is a Private Pilot Licence and is a proud member of a Beagle Pup 150 syndicate."
