Creativity: Your Participation is Required

Hey NYD4SC, we're back! We took a break, got some stuff done and have returned with a 2011 lineup of amazingly useful and generally amazing participatory content that will knock your socks off.

First up: We’d like to explore creativity as democratic process, where every voice has value and anyone can be “Innovative.” When we say this out loud, we take Innovation out of the hands of a sole genius, or a group of people with specific, shared experiences and education. More voices are heard and included. And, solutions pop up from unlikely sources. How does this get done? The first step is to start where cross-disciplinary creation, collaboration and the groundwork for rapid proto-typing can take root. Er ... does this sound like magic? Not to worry, friends. Join us this month to learn how this magic happens. We’ll be tinkering with Remo Nuzzolese, an international creativity facilitator. Remo will lead us in an exploration of what's behind Innovation by teaching us about the Creative Problem Solving Model and its founding principles. Then, we will play with the thinking skills that fuel Innovation, practicing Divergence and Convergence techniques. Finally, Remo will bring us back to the center of the process and we will take stock of what it takes to become deliberately creative. Don’t be surprised if we’ve blueprinted a few solutions for world peace! When Creativity is used as a tool, everyday is an opportunity to be hacked ... Remo Nuzzolese believes that innovation is the result of human behavior; and that creativity can be learned. It’s his goal to share the toolkit and processes that make both happen. Remo’s been working in innovation generation for over 10 years. His specialty is to lead tech firms and of late, social changemakers, in the generation of initiatives, services and products that are the future, drive business/social enterprise development and attenuate capacity. Originally from Italy, Remo has lived and worked in Milan, Shanghai and Toronto where he’s facilitated innovation processes for a variety of hi-profile multinational tech clients. As a recent Concrete Jungle transplant, Remo’s established a NYC-based global consultancy while he pursues post-graduate research at the Creativity and Change Leadership Program at SUNY, Buffalo.
