The Theory of Constraints was outlined by Goldratt in his book The Goal (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002LHRM2O?ie=UTF8&camp=3194&creative=21330&creativeASIN=B002LHRM2O&linkCode=shr&tag=franfish-21&qid=1389954286&sr=8-1&keywords=the+goa). The workshop is a simple exercise where we set up a manufacturing process (origami skills might help for some of the participants but aren't mandatory) and then debug it. It gives the participants a gut feel for how constraints affect the work that we can then build on to look at in the round.

Goldratt also worked on Retail and Project Management but the core of the ideas are easier to see with a simple manufacturing process.

The workshop is fun, and makes you think. It's how I first got into the Theory of Constraints.
