Nude Descending a Staircase by X. J. Kennedy
Toe upon toe, a snowing flesh,
A gold of lemon, root and rind,
She sifts in sunlight down the stairs
With nothing on, Nor on her mind.
We spy beneath the banister
A constant thresh of thigh on thigh –
Her lips imprint the swinging air
That parts to let her parts go by.
One-woman waterfall, she wears
Her slow descent like a long cape
And pausing, on the final stair
Collects her motions into shape.

Someone recently said, poetry is not meant to be read, but to be listened to. So just like in the Dead Poets Society movie, I would like to meet with people who also love poetry, love to read it aloud, love to perform it, love to talk about it. - Let's come together reading poems to each other and sharing why they touch us the way they do.
We have expanded our meetups. Here is what we do...
Poetry Readings (we are reading classic and modern poetry for the pure joy of it)
* every 1st Thursday evening of the month
* every 2nd Wednesday evening of the month
* random Saturdays for brunch
Sharing Creativity (poetry workshop: critiquing our own work, exercises, homework)
* every 1st Monday evening of the month
* every 3rd Thursday evening of the month
Join us for anything and everything that piques your interest and resonates with your poetic soul!
This is an alternative date and time to our Wednesday meetings: every first Thu of the month.
We can alternate between Starbucks and Panera if you like. Let me know if you have other ideas for good places to meet in the Brier Creek area.
I hope this new day suits people and we have a chance to share our beloved poems.
