While you're trimming the tree, lighting those Hanukkah candles, or decking the halls in black, red, and green for Kwanzaa, think about the poets you'd like to read in 2012. They may be living or dead, famous or obscure--just as long as they are good to read. Our book club meets on the 2nd Sunday of every month (except July and August when we are on summer break).
So far we've decided on these selections for January and February:
January 15th (3rd Sunday): James Longenbach's Art of the Poetic Line (2008, Graywolf). You may review an excerpt of the book at the Graywolf Press website.
February 12th: Ai's Vice: New and Selected Poems (1999, W.W. Norton). This book won the National Book Award for Poetry. The poet died last March.
We need your help in selecting the rest of the poetry books for 2012, so please post your ideas to the message board or simply reply to this email. You can visit our website for a list of books we've read.
Be safe & happy holidays!
