Wine and Cheese from Southern France!

Fellow Oenophiles!

Red wine season is fast upon us! The evenings are crisp, our meals are heartier, and our penchant for red wine is growing stronger.

I'd like to propose a wine and cheese event at the Truffle Table in Lower Highland. The owner Rob and his manager Miguel will have recently returned from their overseas trip to Southern France and they will have plenty of ideas and recommendations on wine and cheese pairings from the region of Languedoc-Roussillon.

Miguel will be offering our group three unique wines from the Languedoc-Roussillon area alongside a sampler of appropriate Southern French cheeses - you can bet they'll have some Roquefort!

The cost for the event is $25.00 per person (tax and gratuity NOT included) payable directly to the folks at the Truffle Table on the evening of the event. As usual, we will all be on separate tabs. We have reserved the center table and some room at the bar for a much better "mixing" environment.

The Truffle Table is very cozy and intimate, so we can only open the event to 20 people. Please RSVP and PLEASE change your RSVP if you cannot attend. We normally have a wait list.

Folks have often asked if the wines at the events are available for purchase in retail stores. I am working with Miguel to have an inventory of the evenings' wines available at Amendment XXI in case anyone wants to take some home (The Holidays are coming up!).

Do we get three wine tastes or three wine glasses?

I've been to several of these events, and they are always well done. It's less about the quantity of wine and more about the tasting, comparing, pairing with foods and learning about the wines from Leo and the sommelier. Oh, and usually some pretty good company and laughs as well!

I have been to Nappa, Sonoma, Woodiniville and Walla Walla for wine tasting at wineries. And they are cheaper then $25. All good wineries have snacks too and teach you about wine. So this event is too expensive for me.

So I didn't get confirmed until 5:15 so I unfortunately won't make it by 530.
