Most people are so busy and being pulled in so many directions, carrying too heavy loads...it's not until a body part breaks down do they see a doctor and/or nurse in an office or worse...in a hospital.
As nurses, we are advocates for the sick, our patients in the hospital or elsewhere. Why can't we help them to stay out of the hospital, reduce their medications, improve their health related numbers through the efficacy of fitness? Well, we can!
Visit www.fitnessnursing.com to read about how nurses interested in fitness are starting a grass roots organization. These organization is for those nurses who enjoy exercise and/or have expertise/education in exercise and want to share that expertise with those who have or who are at risk for various medical ailments.
As nurses, we know the lingo of physicians, the medications, and 'the system' of 'healthcare'. Once someone is diagnosed with a disease or condition, they're afraid and they will usually do what the doctor says, when medication is involved. But it's the lifestyle change that got these folks into their dilemma and they need our help to correct the sedentary lifestyle they chose by being fully aware of it or not.
We know that pills will only do temporary good. The underlying cause is immobility...basically. How many people do you know who are discharged from physical therapy and then they stop moving again; only to be back in the hospital or doctor's office. 67 million Americans are pre-diabetic. They can turn it around. Nurses can help them. This organization will focus on using exercise as a means to lower blood pressure, reduce waist measurement, improve mood and increase stress resistance, of course, much more benefits, naturally from getting your client/patient to move.
We'll discuss and network on where and how to get work. How to approach healthcare establishments and how to get certified in fitness or a specialty exercise certification.
