Hello LAAGers!,

AND A VERY WARM WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBERS, including we’re delighted to say this month, Dr. Peter Boghossian.

We hope we will be able to do justice to Dr. Boghossian’s excellent work “A Manual for Creating Atheists” (book available for pre order) in our series of meetups and activism events based on exploring his method for tackling “the Faith Virus”.

Our first event in the series is on Aug 14th , and Dr Boghossian has kindly agreed to a live Skype Q&A. As you know these events are usually very busy so do RSVP rather than just showing up please! - this is one not to be missed folks!

OTHER IMPORTANT DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Secular March, Sep 14th

We need to show up to these things - and SHOW politicians we want change, so please support and promote as much as you can. Our August Caption Competition will also be supporting this event – this time a prize is up for grabs from both CLHG and LAAG - the best two chants win and have the ‘honour’ of being used at the Rally.

AUGUST MEETUPS & EVENTS:

• L.A.A.G SOCIAL EVENT: Visit to Darwin’s home, Aug 11th

(Sorry, fully booked now but do let us know what else you’d like to do…)

• L.A.A.G DISCUSSION EVENT: Wed August 14th "A Manual for Creating Atheists'

• Plenty of other varied events as always, including CLHG's talk on the 21st, Skeptics In the Pub, CHES, and more...please check the events board for details.

FORUMS
Several people have been asking how to use the forums, so we’ve set up a permanent reference guide to take you through step-by-step: LINK
(If you need any further help, feel free to email me)

Here are just a few of the discussions you can join in with this month.

LAAGer  FUN:

CAPTION COMPETITIONS: Since I didn’t notify you of last month’s (ooops!) we’ll let it run along with the August one. Get your entries in - especially the Ladies, come on! ...and some nice goodies to be won.

Anagram Competition
Chants Competition

GENERAL

Please don’t be intimidated to join in with meetups or in the forum, as whilst we encourage frank discussion, we also aim to be a friendly and constructive group.

Hopefully you can make it along to an event sometime, but please don't be discouraged if you can't participate, as even silent membership is helpful …you’re giving constructive atheism & rationalism a stronger voice just by being part of the group :-)

(P.S. Though we are conscious not to email you unnecessarily frequently, Meetup.com does send some emails and notices by default - to turn them off, click on ACCOUNTS very top right, then set 'emails and notifications' as suits you).

FINALLY...

Andy S has run a 10K event in support of CARE International UK, a very good secular charity. And in the heat! Well done Andy! We’ve sent him some LAAGer love to help him reach his target - if you’d like to add some more you can also donate HERE

….if anyone would like something included in the newsletters, or any other thoughts/feedback... welcome as always.

Thanks all, for your participation/membership/activism, & good humour!
Have a great month,
