The theme of our inaugural meetup will be on Exponential Technologies, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence.

7:00pm Introduction from Meetup Organizer, Peter Morgan.

7:15pm Jack Watts, Nvidia - GPU's in the future of Technology.

Jack will outline the role that GPU's play now and in the future of exponential technologies such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence and self-driving cars. As well as describing Nvidia's current product range, he will give us a glimpse of their roadmap and where they see this technology taking us.

Jack joined NVIDIA in 2014 to manage channel partners in Northern Europe and work with Industry start-ups and commercial companies who are leveraging NVIDIA technology in their Deep Learning research and applications. Jack works with clients in creating ever expanding use cases for NVIDIA GPU technology in teaching computers to see, hear, speak and more.

8:00pm David Wood, Head of London Futurists - An Overview of Exponential Technologies.

From AI to genomics to quantum computing to nanotech, David will take us on a tour of the major technology trends we are seeing develop and what the future may look like, given the accelerating advancements and convergence in these exponential technologies. As well as outlining the exciting technological developments he will also describe the political, economic and social issues that such changes may bring.

David is Principal at Delta Wisdom, an independent consultancy that aims to provide “intelligence for profound change”, focussing on the dramatic impact of rapidly changing technology on human individuals and communities. He is also Chair of London Futurists and a Fellow at the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies. As Cofounder of Symbian, David is the author of two popular books on the smartphone industry.
