Javascript Libraries: There and Back Again

In the mid-2000s IE6 was king and vanilla javascript sucked. There had to be a better way deal with DOM manipulation; enter jQuery. After a long run as THE javascript library, jQuery has fallen from grace and we're in the middle of another war for javascript supremacy. Should you rewrite? Which library should you pick? What's the business case? These are tough questions and I hope to give you some help in answering them.
