London RubyMotion Inaugural Meetup

It's been a long time in the making, but it's finally time for the inaugural RubyMotion London meetup!

And what better way to kick things off than with RubyMotion's creator and ex-Apple developer Laurent Sansonetti joining us for the evening.

FORMAT FOR THE EVENING

The evening will kick off with free Pizza & Drinks and anyone currently working on their own RubyMotion project is encouraged to bring it along to demo. If you'd like to set up a little demo area for your project let us know in advance, otherwise just bring along your phone/tablet/laptop and grab the nearest person that's interested!

We'll then move on to some technical talks from Paul, Will and Laurent (more details below).

Finally we'll most likely head to a nearby pub for some further discussion :)

Laurent Sansonetti

Talk: RubyMotion: Present & Future

Laurent is the founder of HipByte and the original developer of RubyMotion.

He worked at Apple for 7 years as a senior software engineer, on both iLife and OS X. At Apple, he maintained the Ruby distribution of OS X and also created the MacRuby project. In a previous life, he worked on IDA Pro and was an active contributor to RubyCocoa and GNOME.

Laurent lives in Liège, Belgium. He enjoys drinking beer, eating waffles, and spending time with his wife and son.

Will Raxworthy

Talk: An Introduction to RedPotion

Will arrived in London at the start of 2015 after working working as a web and RubyMotion developer in Sydney, Australia. He has always been a tinkerer, breaking and building everything from Lego to computers from a young age.

While not at work, he travels around England seeking out the greatest coffees. You'll also find him at local Ember and Ruby meet ups where you can ask him what the secret to a great pan fried sandwich is.

Paul Sturgess

Talk: Building Title Challenge

Paul has worked as a Ruby on Rails developer for 8 years, recently turning his hand to RubyMotion to build the iOS football manager game Title Challenge.

Paul works for Kyan in Guildford and Title Challenge is Kyan's first game. Find out all about how it is was created, the challenges involved and why RubyMotion was the toolchain of choice.
