RUM First (September Meetup)

*** Note that this is a TUESDAY not our normal Wednesday... ***

Join us for a talk with Cliff Crocker (@cliffcrocker) from SOASTA for a talk about real world challenges of Real User Measurement!

Real user measurement is widely accepted by thought leaders and industry experts as the best way to gain insight into the 'true' performance of the end user. However, the adoption of RUM in the real world has been slower than one would expect. The focus of this talk will be to discuss common challenges and objections to a 'RUM First' performance management strategy and propose best practices and methodology for success within organizations.

Highlights of this talk:

·  A survey of the RUM landscape

·  Common challenges with RUM

·  RUM vs. Synthetic Monitoring

·  A recipe for success – engaging your business

·  Open source and free alternatives to get you started

Cliff Crocker is Vice President of Product Management at SOASTA for mPulse, a real user performance measurement product that is the first of its kind. Prior to joining SOASTA, Cliff built out and led the Performance and Reliability organization for @WalmartLabs, which focused on improving page speed and scalability for all global Walmart properties. The work he started there continues at SOASTA as he works cross-industry to educate site owners on the importance of correlating performance metrics with business intelligence to spotlight opportunities to improve the user experience. Cliff is an active participant in the web performance community, evangelizing RUM and performance culture.

    Thanks for good meetup again.

Stephen: during one of the chats afterwards, you told about someone who has had really good presentations about complex analysis based on user metrics. Could you share it again? I cannot remmeber it anymore and I would like to check if any of his talks are available.
