Hi all, I've finally managed to complete the subtitling of the Q&A session with Alex Makarov, and it's now available on Youtube here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Giovanni helped me fixing the recording of his own session introducing Yii Playground 2.

    Hope you enjoy.

PS: the first video is uncut, so the first 5 minutes can be skipped already.

    Hi everybody!

Thanks for coming to the meetup this week. I've uploaded the slide deck to http://www.slideshare.net/cassi... for your peruse.

Additionally, we had a live feed with one of Yii core devs, Alex Makarov which clarified a lot of information about the framework. He has also shared a video recorded before the meetup responding to several questions we put to him : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Giovanni Derks also spoke about the conversion of his Yii Playground to Yii v2.0 which is currently going on at http://www.yiiplayground.com.

We are excited about next month and we'll set a date for the next meeting before the end of this week.

If you want to contribute/speak/present at next month's meeting, please give us a shout!

    See you soon!

    Cass

Hello, great to read that we'll have a chat with samdark ;-)

Also, I just managed to update Yii Playground for Yii 2 creating the SyntaxHighlighter extension and doing so I learned a few new things and collected a list of questions... so if there is time and someone is interested just let me know!

So one basic question I'd like to make is: "how does he feel as a Yii developer, regarding the direction PHP has taken, especially in regards to the integration with Composer"

      Sure, thanks:

1: what is the best way to create an extension (with its own assets) without using composer? (how is the auto loading handled in that case?)
2: related to the first question, how is the autoloading exactly working / which are the differences?
3: do you think that Yii 2 has a steeper learning curve compared to Yii 1?
4: what new features do you like the most?
5: what have been the biggest challenges / are you happy to the adopted solutions?

about question #2, I read on the guide about PSR-4 but for example, for my first Yii 2 extension the namespace is giovdk21\yii2SyntaxHighlighter while the actual folder name is giovdk21/yii2-syntaxhighlighter but I did not split it as giovdk21\yii2\syntaxhighlighter ... should this be considered a mistake?

Hi, I have some exciting news!

I managed to contact one of the core Yii developers and he has agreed to respond to our Yii related questions in video.

That's a golden chance to ask those questions that only core devs can answer. What would you ask?

Please send me your questions by Friday 18:00 GMT and will get everything ready to present them to the group Tuesday.

    Many thanks!

    Cass
