What do you/where do you work/study?

I'm freelance and work mainly, though not exclusively, in the UK. In addition to consultancy assignments I speak at conferences. (e.g. the AFM, Amice, Incisive Media, Morningstar, and The Finance IT Network.)

How do you use behavioural science? Or, in what way are you interested in using it?

The financial services sector and its regulator, the FCA, have a strong bias towards System 2 thinking and Rules. It has been my experience that most of them find it difficult to comprehend the power of the subconscious, the importance of context, and the prevalence of System 1 thinking - and their implications.

I apply insights from psychology to my clients' businesses. As my clients are in financial services there is an emphasis on BE. I'm a UCL alumnus.

What Alan N. is saying about this Meetup Group

Good. In a good way we came to the conclusion that the collective noun for psychologists is 'a babble'. (A boredom for actuaries; a set for mathematicians.) LBEN is an exemplar for early 21C networking for which my thanks. Alan
