August Clojure Users Group Meetup: ClojureScript

Vishvajit will introduce ClojureScript, a Clojure on Javascript. He will describe Rich's rationale for the language, its differences with vanilla Clojure, how to build a compilation environment, and how to integrate existing Javascript libraries with ClojureScript code. He will then build a WebGL example to showcase ClojureScript's power and ease-of-use.

Vishvajit Singh is a developer at Naughty Dog, a game company in Santa Monica. He is working on the highly anticipated PS3 title 'The Last of Us'.

Parking and Directions:

We're in the Gateway West building, next to the Westfield Century City mall on the east side. It's the only building with big red "Westfield" signs on top.

I recommend you park at the mall. You get 3 hours free at the mall, and our building is a short easy walk: Exit from the mall parking garage up to ground level, head east, pass the Lens Crafters, and you'll be able to enter the west side of 1801. Then just hit the elevators to go all the way up to floor 14, and we're in Suite 1450.

In a pinch, if you park in the parking garage for Gateway West, I may be able to score you parking validation. However, I cannot promise it and therefore prefer you use the mall parking.

If you would like to build upon them, you can get the source code for the WebGL demos I presented from

Vish gave a very good "hands-on" walkthrough of ClojureScript as he used it to implement a WebGL demo application. I particularly like watching the blow-by-blow development of code (even if it had to be carefully prepared in advance). I learn as much from watching the occasional error as I do from the planned presentation.
