We have three great talks scheduled for April 3rd. David Wicks is going to give us an overview of Cinder, a creative coding library for C++. +Marco Morais is going to say some words about concurrency in a talk entitled "c++ memory model and multi-threading: what happens when an old dog learns new tricks," and +Brandon Harvey is going to kick off our exploration of C++11 with a few words about "auto."

Went a little long, but it was a strong beginning to what could be a great group.

the info from the presenters was also very topical, about changes coming around the corner to C++

I've written up my talk, with links to a few references, here: http://walkwithoutrhythm.net/blog/2012/04/05/a-lightning-talk-about-auto-in-c-plus-plus-11/

Great turnout with a lot of different experiences and knowledge. I think this will be a boon for C++ users in the area. There were lots of discussions of the various tools and how the language functions in various environments.

The wide ranging discussion and a surprisingly large turn out suggest a real C++ community is building in LA.

I thought it was a good meet. I didn't know much about the new C++ language features, so it was a good opportunity to see what had been happening. Looking forward to more.

There's street parking near Oblong. (Some metered, some not.) There's also a lot across from MEGA TOYS (2nd and Garey) that charges $4 during the day but is often unmanned and free in the evening.

There should be plenty of free parking on the street in front of the building that Oblong is located in. Don't be alarmed, this is the arts district, expect an industrial feel to the area.
