Miss us? We missed you too. So much so that we are going to start 2012 with a big bang with the LeanLA incubator/accelerator event. I don't know if you guys noticed but incubators have been popping up in LA like mushrooms after a rainstorm in the last few months.
[*insert hilarious sound effect of mushroom popping up here]
We've rounded them up and we're gonna have an honest & open discussion about them because you guys need to find out why you should let any of them invest into YOUR DEAL.
We'll have Amplify, Idealab, K5, Launchpad LA, Mucker Labs, Originate, Start Engine, Upstart on stage for discussion and Q&A from YOU.
Who the f*ck are these people? What are their differences? How do they add value? Who is good fit? Who isn't? How do they help you with Series A? You get the picture. Bring your questions.
But it gets even better -- our buddy, Dave McClure of 500 Startups will be in town too and will participate in the fun too - so sign up now.
We're still working out the logistics as to where the event will be & what sort of refreshments will be served. Mark David HarrisonI got a very good overview of the incubators and the types of funding they provide as well as the types/stages and maturity of companies each would chose to get involved with. The group may want to consider doing this at least quarterly to raise visibility of resources available to an entrepreneur.

Scott MacKinnonThis was a great event that really showed Los Angeles' entrepreneuriaChecked-inl spirit, not to mention it was funny as hell. One thing that everyone agreed on was there wasn't enough tech talent interested in these start-ups. My company, a technical recruiting firm, agrees that it is a candidate driven market...that's why it's time to hit up those cold places and offer them LA on a day like today...or any day, since they are all 72 and sunny.

Toren AjkVery good overall. Only thing lacking was time to talk to the panel afterwards. Everyone was anxious to get out of there, which was understandable given the time. Maybe start the event next time at 7 and leave 8:30-9 for meeting the panel members, assuming they are open to it.
