I'm teaching a class at the Cauldron on Irish Folk Customs for the Sabbats: Ancient Wisdom for the Wheel of the Year -- come check it out!
There are a wealth of traditions that were performed by our ancestors at the eight turnings of the wheel of the year that survived into Christian times. These customs and beliefs are tied to the natural cycle of the year and an understanding of the supernatural world that we can use and learn from. Modern Pagans and Witches often feel we must ?reinvent the wheel? for our holiday rituals, unaware of the many wonderful traditional practices we can draw upon. These old ways can serve not only as a store of ideas but as a thread connecting us to our forebears. In this workshop we will explore customs of the Irish people as documented by folklorists over the past several centuries, connecting them to pre-Christian beliefs and reinterpreting them for our own use today.

About your instructor: Cerridwen has been a Witch following the path of the Goddess and Women?s Mysteries for over twenty years. Together with her husband she has created a folklore-based tradition of Witchcraft, which they have practiced for 7 years within a coven and within their home. She holds a Ph.D. in Folklore and Mythology, with a focus on Celtic Folklore and on Vernacular Religion, and teaches academically at local universities in her mundane life. Cerridwen is an initiated Dianic witch through Circle of Aradia, and was ordained through Temple of Diana upon completion of Spiral Door, a priestess-training curriculum created by Ruth Barrett & Falcon River. She has facilitated rituals at Circle of Aradia and through various covens, taught Goddess classes on her own in the 1980s, later through Circle of Aradia, Temple of Diana, and her own new Dianic grove, Sisters of the Moon.
Hope to see some of you there!
