This group is designed to host and inform you about all the meet ups that are out there in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Some meet up with be Free of charge other will have fees that will be paid to that location if you want to attend. I will always list the contact information for you. 

This Group will have a Deaf tutor who will assist with beginners, learning ASL. He will be there 1 hour prior to coffee nights and stay one after it begins, to answer questions or help you stay in the conversation. That is 2 hours of tutoring 4 nights a week, more if the demand is there. I will list each event he will be at so please read the details. I remember when I was learning, I really needed more time and someone to sign with, well here it is. No one hates being lost more than I do so I have decided this group will have a tutor on hand to help us learn. We must have 3 members go for him to come and support us, with improving our skills, so please take the time to confirm your status. I will list my cell phone number so you can text me if you change your mind to late to update online. 

When I started the Sign Language program at the college everyone said go make Deaf friends. What was never said was how to become a part of the Deaf community, where to find people I had things in common with who were using sign language.

I wanted this group to bridge that gap, I wanted to start a group that is more than a place to use American Sign Language (ASL) I want it to be a place where you make friendships that last past pizza night. This group has been going over 6 months now, I am learning how to make it great. 

If you want to learn ASL just starting out please join and come makes some new friends. If you want some lasting friendships that do not fall apart after you leave the meeting then you have to change how you think. It's about more than pizza night and improving your skills, you have to be willing to want to become a part of the Deaf community. As a future interperter I do not see this profession as a 9 to 5 job only and I want to help others see it as more than that also. Everyone is welcome to join this group Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing. Age does not matter, just join and lets have some fun and makes some friends.

The dues cover the tutor, website page and the research in finding you a group in your area of Los Angeles that are still active and someone in the Deaf community to connect with based on a hobby later, as the list of Deaf friends grows.
