Eastside Ruby Study Group

Now that we've done Railsbridge together...

Let's Learn Ruby & Ruby on Rails

One Week at a Time [ for real this time :) ]

I will be at the Panera Bread in Glendale on every Thursday night. We can meetup with our laptops and start studying together. I say we pick a tutorial or a book and we go through them together helping each other figure out the harder parts and really understand it.

I want to meet every Thursday night 6-9pm starting this Thursday.

This week, watch Rails for Zombies. We'll discuss it and go over the examples together.

You are not too far behind. We only worked through the first level of the Rails for Zombies and I can go through it with you if you come tonight and maybe a few other things if you can come tonight.

It will be Sara's first time too so we'll make sure that we get caught up with the West side group.

Daniel, it will normally be on Thursday but this week we switched to Tuesday so we could go to Google's Women in Tech. party this Thursday.

This sounds like fun! It looks like Rails for Zombies is free to use. Is that correct?

This learning / study group is just starting so if you ever wanted to learn Ruby or Ruby on Rails this is perfect for you. We are small enough that we can cater to any level of learning.

Ashley, Stephanie and I met at Panera for our first study group. We worked through Level One in Rails for Zombies. http://railsforzombies.org/levels/1 The West side and East side are going to try to stay on relatively the same course. They went through Code School's http://www.codeschool.com/courses/try-ruby and the first 6 chapters in Learn Ruby the Hard Way by Zed Shaw http://ruby.learncodethehardway.org/
(It's pretty quick and basic so don't be overwhelmed.)
Also feel free to post any questions here.

This week I want to study on Tuesday because I think it is important that we go to this party of female developers. Networking is key to any endeavor.
