STUDENTS: RailsBridge Workshop for Women

**IMPORTANT**Please read to the bottom of this message**

This Los Angeles Women’s Ruby on Rails Group workshop is intended to reach out to women in the Los Angeles area who are interested in learning Ruby on Rails. Men are welcome to attend if you bring a woman who wants to learn Ruby on Rails too. We are aiming for a mid to late August event date – we hope to confirm the date and location soon.

In this workshop, we'll take you through building a complete web application using Ruby on Rails. By the end of the workshop, you'll have an application on the internet that connects to a database and reads and writes information.

We'll meet on a Friday evening for introductions and to install all of the software you’ll need. We will then spend Saturday working through the curriculum. Total programming novices, system administrators and developers in other languages are all welcome. Each class will be separated by experience level.

In order to participate in this workshop, each participant needs to bring her/his own laptop and power supply. Please also note that we will be sending out emails on a regular basis with updates, notifications and to-do’s prior to the event. So please make sure the email address you have listed on Meet-Up.com is one that you check frequently. You will lose your spot if you fail to respond in a timely manner.

If you have a Mac, you must install Xcode on your laptop before coming to the first part of the workshop on Friday, June 29. (Xcode is the software that creates a coding environment for you to build your app.) Xcode is a very large file that takes 2-3 hours to download, and only one the first step in a more involved setup process. **If you need help, please contact Tiffany . When you have it completed, please add the words "XCode Complete" to your RSVP. Please do this step, if you do not, you will be unable to participate in the workshop. If you do not have a mac, you do not need to do this--please simply add your OS to your meetup RSVP.

We're looking for workshop instructors and TA’s! Anyone interested in volunteering please RSVP to this Meet-Up http://www.meetup.com/Los-Angeles-Womens-Ruby-on-Rails-Group/events/71322172/.

I really wanted to attend this, but it's my mother's birthday and other things have come up. Count me in for the next one!

    "XCode Complete" by the way...
I was sent straight to the RSVP before being able to read the need to say it in the RSVP...

    Excited about this!
