Welcome to the
Broward Lotus Sangha
Practicing In the Tradition of
Thich Nhất Hạnh
is a community of practitioners that gets together to meditate,
socialize with a focus, and support each other in their practice of mindfulness.
We invite you to come and sit with us in mindfulness every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of the month year-round.
"In society, much of our suffering comes from feeling disconnected from one another. We often do not feel a real connection even with people we live close to, such as our neighbors, our co-workers and even our family members. Each person lives separately, cut off from the support of the community. Being with the Sangha can heal these feelings of isolation and separation. We practice together, we meditate, and, together, we share and discuss the Dharma as a way of life. Just by participating with other fellow practitioners in these activities, we can experience a tangible sense of peace, love and acceptance.
Thây often says that the Sangha is a garden, full of many varieties of trees and flowers. When we can look at ourselves and at others as beautiful, unique flowers and trees we can truly grow to understand and love one another. One flower may bloom early in the spring and another flower may bloom in late summer. One tree may bear many fruits and another tree may offer cool shade. No one plant is greater, or lesser, or the same as any other plant in the garden. Each member of the Sangha also has unique gifts to offer to the community. We each have areas that need attention as well. When we can appreciate each member's contribution and see our weaknesses as potential for growth we can learn to live together harmoniously. Our practice is to see that we are a flower or a tree, and that we are the whole garden as well, all interconnected." Source:
We meet the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the month from 6:30 to 8:30 PM
. The door opens around 6:00 PM to set up and practitioners should be arriving by 6:15 PM so they can say 'hello', find a comfortable place to sit and relax while listening to the music. Silent meditation starts at 6:30 PM. If you arrive after that, please come in quietly. (We will be talking again by about 7:00). Feel free to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and bring your favorite seating arrangement (some are provided). For directions, please click here
At the end of the meditation gathering we share some tea and treats and, whenever possible, go out to dinner nearby afterwards.
In order to be kind to the Earth Mother, please bring your own non-disposable teacup
(disposable ones are usually provided by the Sangha) and whatever healthy vegetarian treats you would like to share with the Sangha.
COME SIT WITH US!
