2013: The Year Of The Vegan!
We're so excited to announce three awesome events in January! And, as luck would have it, they all involve food. Awesome! We've been a bit quiet for this month of December as it's often a time when people are out of town, busy, or simply relaxing with friends and family during the holidays. If you've found some great vegan recipes to share over the break, share them with us on our Facebook Page
Dining Out @ Simply Thai - Wen, Jan 2, 5:45pm2)
Lunching together @ Little India Cafe - Wen, Jan 16, 11:45am3)
Jenny Brown of Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary book signing + dinner to follow - Fri, Jan 25, 7:00pm
Right as the new year gets going we'll be meeting for dinner as part of our monthly dining out series, this time at vegan-friendly Simply Thai (323 Wallace Avenue). Our event planner Eden writes:
...every dish is a flavor powerhouse! A lot of restaurants rely on salt and sugar to get their food through, but Simply Thai vamps up their ginger, lemon grass, and basil to bring the flavors to soaring points.
So join us on Wednesday, January 2, 2013
(woo!) at 5:45pm for a fun evening of good eats and great people. Please RSVP here on Meetup.com
so we have an accurate count!
...this place is a gem. Their chana masala really wows with beans that melt in your mouth amidst smooth flavors of which all that can be said is, "that's good Indian food." At a buffet price of $8.23 and enough options to stuff a hungry vegan, I hope you'll check it out. Let's get a big group together and see if we can't request most of their offerings be vegan that day. Isn't that a neat goal? -Eden
Eden is talking about Little India Cafe
, at 3099 Breckenridge Ln, where we will be heading for lunch on January 16 at 11:45am! Please RSVP and join us!
Last but not least we are so thrilled to welcome Louisville-native and fellow animal rights champion Jenny Brown back to the city to speak about her book, "The Lucky Ones
." Jenny will be speaking at Carmichael's Bookstore
(2720 Frankfort Ave) on Friday, January 25, at 7:00pm. You can get more details and RSVP on Facebook here
After her talk we'll be heading to the vegan-friendly Mellow Mushroom
just down the road for dinner and more discussion. Whether you're curious about rescuing farm animals (Jenny's passion) or vegan activism, it's a great opportunity to talk to someone who's out there, living it. If you'd like to join us please RSVP by 1/24
on Facebook so we can get an accurate count.
Have a wonderful new year! The Louisville Vegetarian Initiative
