The Louisville Open Source Programming Meetup Group Monthly Meetup

An interesting program has come together this month, with something for both developers and sys admins (, and, yes, SysOps/DevOps folks) plus the restuvus:

-participate in (or observe) a live scrum session, part of our ongoing Agile project led by Deven Phillips.

-see and hear about the first iteration of our scrum subject: a topic manager for our KyOSS meetings, this prototype iteration written by Alan Blount using meteor.js

-debate whether this first iteration was really developed in a properly scrummy way ... and just how proper does scrum/agile need to be in the first place?

-And witness the first system output of all this input: the first topic suggested by our first iteration of our topic-manager-in-development:

And that topic would be:

---Container virtualization: kinda like virtual servers, only not, and maybe better, sometimes. We'll talk about Docker, SmartOS, and other things.

Come and join us! We usually have between 15 and 20 Linux users, admins, and programmers show up. Good conversation and networking and some great presentations.

Come and join us! We usually have between 15 and 25 Linux users, admins, and programmers show up. Good conversation and networking and, often, a great presentation or two.

We meet on the second Wednesday of each month. If we don't have an announced program, feel free to come with a discussion topic or a presentation to make to us! (Or just come and join the conversation!)

Keep up on the latest by subscribing to our KYOSS discussion list. Just send an email to [masked]

Something came up for me with work, otherwise I was very much looking forward to this. This location is good for me though. I look forward to making a future event.

Thi smonth we're meeting at Adecco Recruiting. getting ready to update now.

We'll meet tomorrow evening (Wednesday, 8/13) at 6:30 p.m. in the Seminar Room at Adecco:

    Adecco Recruiting
    101 Bullitt Lane
    Louisville KY 40222

This is on the west side of Oxmoor Center (on Shelbyville Road just east of the Watterson Expressway I-264).
Bullitt Lane is the road that Kohl's Department Store is on. It runs west from Oxmoor Lane, running behind Oxmoor Ford.

The Seminar Room is located on the ground floor (basement level) of the building. Take the elevator down one level and then take a left at the atrium. Follow the hallway past the restrooms and a break area, and you will see the Seminar Room on your right hand side. Here's a link to a google map:
