Nov 9: How open source projects work (as told by the pros)
Details
If you're involved or ever thought of getting involved in an open source project, either starting one yourself or joining an existing one, our November 9 KYOSS meeting is for you:
We're honored to host a panel of representatives from four active and prominent open source projects:
Ryan Dzrama - Founder and lead developer of Drupal Commerce (http://drupalcommerce.org/) (a fairly recent fork/rewrite of Ubercart (http://ubercart.org/), the other leading open source PHP-based ecommerce project in Louisville).
Scott Ullrich and Chris Buechler - The two forces behind pfSense (http://pfsense.org/), the leading open source firewall
Jeff Squyres - Cisco developer who leads the Open MPI (http://open-mpi.org/) (Message Passing Interface) project.
Mike (Stew) O'Connor - Debian (http://debian.org/) developer
We meet at LVL1 Hackerspace 814 E Broadway (rear). Refreshments and social hour begin at 6:30 p.m. Program begins at 7 p.m.
We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at LVL1, Louisville's Hackerspace, in the rear of 814 East Broadway (south side of Broadway, between Logan and Shelby streets). You can park in the ORI parking lot behind the building on Shelby Street. Keep up on the latest by subscribing to our KYOSS discussion list.
