Lots of interesting things to talk about this month:

• Encryption - strong encryption, metadata obfuscation, etc.

• Restore the Fourth

• Software Freedom Day

• Javascript

• The R Project for Statistical Computing

For the latest, see the event listing on the KyOSS calendar: http://www.kyoss.org/Event/1870

Jim Troy will tell us about the R Project for Statistical Computing (http://www.r-project.org/) (Jim had planned to do as part of last month's program, but we ran out of time.) Barton Chittenden has suggested we discuss encryption (and John Hicks seconded that). Here are a couple of good links on the general subject of privacy and security:

And we are all enrolled in one of these courses, right?

Brandon Keibler may attend to tell us about the local Restore the Fourth (https://www.facebook.com/RestoreTheFourthLouisvilleKy) group.

Hector Escobedo may attend to propose holding a local Software Freedom Day on September 21.

Alex Bezuska is planning on attending to discuss forming a Javascript group.

John Hicks reports that several people have suggested some improvements to the KyOSS website, so he can discuss the site's general architecture and then we can schedule an open coding session to implement the improvements.

Come and join us! We usually have between 15 and 20 Linux users, admins, and programmers show up. Good conversation and networking and, often, a great presentation or two.

If we don't have an announced program, feel free to come with a discussion topic or a presentation to make to us! (Or just come and join the conversation!)

We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at LVL1, Louisville's Hackerspace, in the rear of 814 East Broadway (south side of Broadway, between Logan and Shelby streets).

If we don't have an announced program, feel free to come with a discussion topic or a presentation to make to us! (Or just come and join the conversation!)

You can park in the ORI parking lot behind the building on Shelby Street. Keep up on the latest by subscribing to our KYOSS discussion list.
