Adventure Game (hiking, camping, ETC.!!!)

  • August 14, 2009 · 7:00 PM

Last day to sign up is August 9th!!!!

Begin Friday night. End Sunday morning. Location= very drivable

Hiya everyone! The time has come to move beyond mere hiking and camping and on to something different... a real deal teamwork oriented outdoor competition. So come on and join in. I have specially contracted out Kirk Carlson to plan this adventure just for our group!
Expenses will pay for all the materials necessary and for a small fee to reimburse KC for his work planning and hosting the Gold Rush. Join the fun!

Adventure: Gold Rush

What's the standard of gold?

A medium sized group of people will be gathering together for a new Adventure called Gold Rush! In the Gold Rush, players will find themselves competing in team & individual challenges, searching for treasure, buying clues, and banking their profits. It's not just physical challenges: puzzles, endurance games, and tricky initiatives will be between you and your team's treasure. Players will battle between how much gold to bank, how much to keep on hand, and which players to tell. At the end of each round, the player with the least amount in the Vault will be eliminated and will join the Cooperative. The player who completes the last challenge will become The Last Adventurer.

Go to http://docs.google.co... for rules & gameplay.

Minimum of 9 players, maximum of 15.

Fee $25.00

We expect players to sign liability waivers and media release forms (for our website).

The event will be held at Shelley Lake, adjacent to the National Forest. Participants will be camping in the National Forest. There is no cost for parking or camping at this site. If you choose to camp at Shelley Lake, state park guidelines are enforced.

I know know how BK even thought about something like this, but all organizers should take note that as much fun as it is to do our regular type of events, it is an event like this that truly should make everyone appreciate being a member of MAC. For all members who were too afraid to attend such a strange sounding and unknown type of event, rest assured, you missed out on one of the best events of the year in this group. You should only hope you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to partake in this type of event again. If they change it up enough, I would love to do it again. (can i give it 6 stars?)

It was a blast, I had an amazing time and met such wonderful people. I would like to take this opportunity to reveal a few clues that were scattered around the internet and in your brochure:

On the google map, if you go a little north there is a question mark called "Anita Kloo's Look-out." If you clicked it, it showed a link to another map. Using the link took you to another map with 5 stars & arrows. If you clicked on the house, it read: "magenta charkhas" and "email me for the kloo." Clicking on Anita's name and emailing her a message, led to the reply: "Magenta Charkrahs = The Anagram Shack." Therefore, each of the five stars were anagrams, here are the solutions:

    1. This poplar hint = Philanthropist
    2. Me, sir? = Miser
    3. He fit = Thief
    4. Title is... = Elitist
    5. Rout-aid? = Auditor

And in your brochure the entire time was another version of that map, scaled down, with the locations marked of all 5 professionals. :) I can't wait to see you all again!

If you have a second, could you also answer a few questions about yourself, this will help in our team's strategic planning over this last weekend before the event. You can send the answers to my email address, which is [masked]. 1. Your age. 2. Some examples of physical activity you get in a typical week. 3. A couple of your favorite pastimes. 4. Any "handicaps" (for example, "I have a bum left knee."). 5. The names of any participants you have met before.

Does anyone want to carpool with me?

    July 31, 2009

  • Carey E.

I still consider myself a yes. I'm not broke forever. It just might fill up before I officially become a yes, so we'll see what happens. If it doesn't fill up, I'll be there.

Some people are asking about the "moving camp" component. We are taking that out of the game for some players' convenience.

No passes are necessary because you will be camping in National Forest property.

Hey everyone, been busy building this week for the fun to come. Wait till you see the puzzle with six-foot long pieces... ;)

And we switched the weekend to get more more people to come. I hope you all can still make it!

The park is in Newaygo, Michigan, and is less then 3.5 hours away, in case anyone was curious. A big carpool might be fun.
