The City of Lakeland and the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport have hosted the event for the past 40 years. The Aviation Year Starts Here and brings together people from around the globe and all segments of the aviation community to enjoy the best fly-in experience ever. The 2014 fly-in dates are April 1 - 6. You can stay up-to-date with all the latest information about activities during the event by checking the Schedules and Maps section at www.sun-n-fun.org. It shows information on forums, workshops, evening entertainment, airshows and more as the information becomes available. With so much to see and do, including almost 5,000 static display aircraft, over 500 commercial exhibits, Ladies Pavilion, Parts Exchange and a daily airshow, you’ll need to schedule your time so you don’t miss a thing! And of course, after a cold winter here in the Northeast, what’s wrong with some warm Florida sun—sounds good, eh? If you plan to book lodging, do so early as hotels and motels fill up quickly. Please be sure to check the FAA Notam at the Official Site for Sun N Fun regularly (www.sun-n-fun.org), regarding the IFR and VFR fly-in procedures, as they are very specific, and need to be followed to the letter. If you are don’t want to fly into LAL, there are several alternate airports that some fly into which are all listed on the Sun-N-Fun website. Also, if you are not an EAA member, you may want to join, as there are discounts for admission, in addition to other EAA benefits. Flying down commercial is an option some members do, so don’t limit yourself if you can’t fly down in your bird or someone else’s bird. You can fly into Orlando (MCO) or Tampa (TPA), and then drive to Lakeland on U.S. Route 4 (it’s closer to Tampa). So let us all from MIPC, join our fellow aviation enthusiasts from all over the country and kick off the ’14 Aviation Season!! We’ll see you there!!
