Joe and Bill are actively training for their next flyby's;
they never rest!
Actually, this video was taken from the cockpit
of a Royal Danish Air Force F-16 as it was flying low over an ice sheet in
Greenland. After take-off you'll see the ice rim (located
east of Kangerlussuaq, Greenland), then head over to the DYE-2 radar
system, and then over an icefjord. After that, watch for the inspection ship
Knud Rasmussen, which holds the title of reaching the furthest point north
of any ship sailing on the west coast of Greenland (82°02'N, 62°01'W). This
class of ship is built for extreme weather conditions. The video ends after a
flyby over the town of Ilussisat, where the namesake for the Knud Rasmussen
class ships, polar explorer Knud Rasmussen, was born.
What's incredible about the F-16 Fighting
Falcon--introduced as their go-to common strike fighter in 1980--is it's
agility. Even though they've been modified and replaced since the late
90s.
