HackMKE 2015

Details

Welcome to HackMKE: 2015! In conjunction with Code for America's Hack for Change events nationwide, the focus this year is on 21st Century Government.

NOTE: All registrants (team or otherwise) will be invited to a kickoff celebration on June 5th at Brenner Brewing!

So what does it mean to Hack MKE? It does not mean you need to be a techie. Our city faces a host of challenges (just like any other city). Some can be helped with technology, and some can be helped with community, design or collaboration. We welcome everyone, whether you want to add to the conversation, offer your expertise, design something, build something or come up with a solution for someone else.

How does this work? Show up. You can take on a challenge to solve, contribute to the conversation or just observe. Want to work individually or on a team? Great! All people wanting to participate in improving Milwaukee are welcome! All participants will be asked to follow our Code of Conduct. At the end of the day, all teams/individuals will do short presentations of their work. Then we celebrate with music and fun!

The Day's Events
9:00 Sign-in/Assignments
1:00 Lunch
5:00 Wrap-up
7:00 Presentations and networking
8:00 Music and Dancing! FAQs

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
No, but all youth under the age of 18 are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Do I have to be a coder to attend or work on something?
No. If you want to participate in making Milwaukee a better, smarter place to live then you are welcome and should come! What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
88-9's studios have 2 hour parking on the day. However, the industrial area south of Pittsburgh has ample parking. Otherwise, this is right along the Oak Leaf Trail for bikers, along the 15 & Green Line buses. There should be ample room if you get there in the morning!

What can/can't I bring to the event?
You can bring ideas, skills, helpful materials, friends, family or anything that will contribute to the conversation. Obviously no weapons are allowed on premise, and we ask that you leave as much pessimism and cynicism as you can outside the door. Our Code of Conduct outlines some details on acceptable and unacceptable conduct.
