Hello fellow MN Bully Lovers I am volunteering for this event and have learned they still need several volunteers, so I thought I would forward the info.
The City of Richfield Department of Public Safety will be conducting a disaster exercise on June 12th 2010. That exercise will test sheltering capability for both humans and animals. I believe this is the first ever co-sheltering exercise to be conducted in Minnesota !
CERT Team members from Richfield and Bloomington will assist Red Cross with the human sheltering portion of the exercise. We will need both human and animal volunteers to pose as evacuees with pets that need sheltering and trained staff to manage the animal shelter portion of the exercise. Hopefully we can arrange to rotate some of the volunteers during the exercise from evacuees to assisting in the shelter as well.
I need 50 human evacuee volunteers, 30 live animal evacuee volunteers and about 20 trained animal disaster responders to manage the actual sheltering.
Contact Jenna Trisko to participate either by e-mail or by phone:

Remember, if you are volunteering your animal as an evacuee to be sheltered in this exercise their temperament must be very stable and safe in crowd situations and when being handled by others when you are not around!
Participating will require most of the day on the date mentioned and the exercise will begin fairly early that day.
MN Bully Lovers is a social network for bully-breed owners and their dogs.
Join our group to meet with local owners who understand the challenges and rewards of owning bully breeds. MN Bully Lovers hosts playtimes and other dog-friendly activities, as well as training & behavior workshops. Our discussion board provides a forum for questions, advice, and information on breed restrictions and/or legislation.
"Meetups" - Activities organized for the whole group. Click the Meetup Title for more info and to RSVP. Each meetup will specify if your RSVP should reflect the # of humans or # of dogs attending.
"Notes" - Dog-related activities or events going on around town. These are not group events, so you may or may not run into other MN Bully Lovers.
