All-American Dog Fest

Thank you to everyone who voted in our NPBAD name poll! The name of our National Pit Bull Awareness Day celebration is All-American Dog Fest.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 26th ? more details to come.

Secondhand Hounds

A message from Rachel, a member of MN Bully Lovers:

My name is Rachel Mairose and I am starting a small rescue group that will eventually be combined with a program for at-risk youth in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The kids will have a chance to work with the rescue dogs, training them to be great family dogs. They will also have an hour each day to be tutored by volunteers. This is an after-school program which will tentatively start Fall of 2010.

Much is needed to get this program off the ground. Luckily, I have the support of many people and organizations! If you have any resources that would help us with the following, please contact me at [address removed].

-Grant writing
-501c3 status (we need a lawyer who will help us get this status)
-Website creation
-Foster families (we will only have 5-8 dogs in foster families at any one time, so each foster family will get a break when they want/need it)

August Photo Contest

The theme for the August photo contest is: Dogs in Action

Submit a picture of your favorite bully in action..catching a Frisbee, running outside, swimming in the lake, etc?

The contest will run Sunday, August 9th - Sunday, August 23rd. All photos must be submitted online by 11:59pm on Sunday, August 23rd. Each dog may submit only ONE photo for the contest (a group picture counts as a submission for each dog in the photo). So, if you have 3 dogs, you may submit one photo of each of them OR a group picture which includes all 3 dogs, etc?

Photos MUST have a caption with the dog?s name and be submitted to the Online Photo Album. You can edit photo captions by clicking on the ?Edit Caption? link immediately below the photo after you have uploaded it.

The winner will be announced online Monday, August 24th.

Prize provided by PAWSitively Delicious.

If you have any questions or comments, you can always reach me via the "Email Me" link from our home page.

Thanks for being a part of MN Bully Lovers!

Happy Tails,
Jen
