We very much appreciate the publicity however, there are two corrections to this article. First, "A $5 fee covered wine and beer..." is NOT correct. We do not have a liquor license and do NOT sell or provide alcoholic beverages. Second, it's correct that there are many singles at our events, but everyone is welcome!
Event Location & Fees Most of our events are hosted in the
Lake Harriet Spiritual Community (LHSC) building. LHSC is kind of a cross between an interdenominational church and a community center.
Due to our affiliation with LHSC, we've negotiated a special arrangement for our group. On dates when the rooms aren't otherwise reserved, LHSC has waived the standard flat rate rental fees and allowed us to charge a per person fee. Most times we collect less than the standard rental fees, but occasionally we receive more. We are very grateful to LHSC for allowing us to operate this way.
We prefer to use the honor system to collect event fees. If someone honestly feels they can't afford the fee, we don't want to turn them away. However, please be aware that, as a small non-profit, LHSC often has difficulty meeting expenses. Your contribution will continue to keep this wonderful facility available to our group. The organizers donate their services and do not receive any payment.
Note to Members Thanks to the many of you who've supported our events in the past. We appreciate the great feedback we've received and all your help with promotion, set-up, and clean-up too!
With this new approach, you won't see all the cross-postings on your other groups and an overload of e-mail notifications for the same event. Don't worry, this isn't one of those groups that will send you tons of e-mail either.
Note to Organizers Thank you all for your past and continued support of our Potluck & Game Nights. Members have enjoyed our events where "all your Meetup friends are in one place at one time!"
We strongly encourage group organizers to continue to include your members by posting a "note" on your calendar and sending an announcement to your e-mail list. Please do not post on your group as a Meetup "event" with a separate RSVP list.
Be assured that we have no intention of "competing" with other groups or "stealing" your members. We will post a very limited number of events and schedule well in advance to avoid conflicts with your group calendars.
