Functional Programming with Ruby

Chris Wilson will delve into functional programming from the point of view of a working Ruby programmer. This talk includes both the history of functional programming (hint: it's been around a while) and current-day patterns and techniques. Chris aims to separate hype from substance and show what all the fuss is about. So even if you think you know what FP is, he guarantees that there will be something here to change your perspective.

I hope not. If you're familiar with Ruby you should do fine.

Will be interesting to see how Ruby does functional programming. I studied some Haskell, a functional language in my last C.S. course that ended last November.

You should watch for Haskell influence. A lot of things that I'm talking about were influenced by Haskell. I make use of Haskell type signatures in a few places, for instance.
